Making art with a friend

There’s nothing better than making art with a good friend. Ok, well, cheesecake is good too and lightly salted dark chocolate covered almonds, and…but I digress.

My friend Jenni came to visit and we spent the weekend making art. We talked, we drew, we ate together. It was swell.

Jenni was experimenting with a relief print as the first step in making a large work based on quilt imagery. She had already done an ink drawing on grey paper and spent much of Saturday carving the block.

Today the weather was gorgeous and we went out painting so I could try out my new pochade box.

Jenni spent her time drawing the palm tree stumps and rubble dumped at the edge of the road leading towards the arroyo. I painted Jenni painting.

It was like a mini retreat. I’m looking forward to our next art weekend.

It was fun wasn’t it? We’ll do it again at some point.
