I had a lovely morning painting in plein air with visiting Australian artist, Adrienne Williams. We went to Soledad Canyon to a trail just before the canyon entrance. I painted a close up of a prickly pear cactus with lovely lime green and orange patches. Since the day was overcast and grey, it has a very narrow value range. So it’s a softer interpretation and not the usual desert drama of deep shadows and bright highlights.

**As usual** I forgot to take any photos until we were ready to leave and Adrienne was already packing up. At some point, I hope to do a blog post about her and share her work with you, which I know you’ll love.
