This chrome duck bank is a treasure I found at an estate sale several years ago. I passed by it several times knowing I didn’t need it but wanting it all the same. I couldn’t wait to paint it. I’ve painted it several times now and I never get tired of it. In this […]

Mango on Americana crystal cup
Mangos are the yummiest fruit. There was a huge 30-foot mango tree in my backyard when I lived in Honduras. That’s when I discovered I was allergic to green mangos. Thankfully I can eat all the ripe ones I want. Yummm. This one sits atop an Americana crystal cup from my mother-in-law’s Sunday crystal.
Mango on striped cup
The beautiful reds and yellows of a mango perched on a simple striped cup with its reflection. Mangos are one of my favorite things to paint because of the beautiful colors and one of my favorite fruits because of the luscious flavors.
Sky over desert
We are in the midst of our monsoon season. Before moving to the desert I never knew there was such a thing. We get rains at the end of the summer and that means our normally blue cloudless skies are filled with wonderful clouds every day. I can’t get enough of them. The skies are […]
Succulent in orange pot
I’m bad at names. I find it hard to remember them and it’s no different with plants than with people. I think this is a silver dollar jade but I’m sure one of you will be able to tell me. Of course I’ll probably forget again! Contact artist for purchase.
Mango on dominos
This is another in the ‘stacked’ series of works in which objects are stacked on unlikely objects. In this case they are wooden dominos. Dominos come in all sorts of materials including a kind of synthetic ivory. It was one of the games I remember playing with my grandfather. He was the first one to […]
Duel
For a long time now I’ve painted fake and realistic versions of rabbits and other animals. This is one I began a while back and abandoned. But now I’ve had a request for it for a fundraiser that’s coming up at the beginning of October, so I’ve repainted it and will be surrendering it to […]
Kiwi on cork
Kiwis have such a wonderful taste and such a great moist-looking interior. This is one of my “stacked fruit” series. Stacking objects in the composition gives some, like this one, an almost figurative quality. This kiwi sits atop a random cork I found in my studio. Oil on cradled wood panel, 4 x 4 inches. […]
Desert willow blooms with onion
A desert willow popped up in our yard a year ago and this year has been loaded with blossoms all summer long. I’ve really been enjoying it since I can see it outside my studio door. The super thin leaves go well with the chrysanthemum design on the ginger jar. Here’s the setup. The lilac […]
Pear on brass candlestick
This is a painting I did a while ago and today I repainted it. It’s not significantly different but I deepened and grayed some colors and darkened the background and I like it much better now. It’s part of my “stacked fruit” series. I love painting pears because they have such wonderful skin tones. They’re […]
Tiger Lily
So I thought I’d do Leslie Saeta’s 30 in 30 challenge again. That’s 30 paintings in 30 days. I knew I wouldn’t be able to do 30 since I have too many other larger pieces I need to finish on deadline, but I’ll post when I can do one. This is one I did of […]
Ceramic bunny with reflection
This ceramic bunny has appeared in several of my paintings. In this case, he is accompanied only by his own reflection. Oil on cradled wood panel, 4×4 in. | SOLD
